Non-NHS Services
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
- Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
- Insurance claim forms
- Passport signing
- Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
- Private sick notes
- Vaccination certificates
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

Specsavers - Minor Eye Condition Services (MECS)
If you are aged 16 years and over, and are suffering from any of the following:
- red eye/eyelids,
- dry/uncomfortable eyes,
- foreign bodies,
- sudden onset blurred or double vision,
- Lumps and bumps in the vicinity of the eye
- Watery eyes
You can call your preferred location and ask for a Minor Eye Condition Service (MECS) appointment. You will be triaged and booked into and appropriate appointment, within 24 hours if urgent, and within 5 days for routine problems.
All patients registered within a Dorset GP are funded by the NHS and there is no additional private charge for this service.
